George Arthur Richford is a  multi-award-winning musician based in Hampshire, UK who has worked with the likes of Sir Thomas Allen, Graeme Danby, Joelle Harvey, Sarah Fox, Robert Murray, Raphaela Papadakis, James Newby, The Chamber Orchestra of Europe, The London Mozart Players, Durham and Edinburgh Cathedral Choirs, The Choir of Royal Holloway with Rupert Gough and has directed across Europe and America. He is published by Universal Editions, Vienna and has produced for recordings and broadcasts with Convivium Records and the BBC.

George Arthur is published by Universal Editions, Music Sales and Shorter House. As a multiple-award-winner, including for the Three Choirs Festival, his music has been performed across Europe and the UK.
In 2019, a collaboration with Royal Holloway Choir resulted in a disk of his music being recorded in 2021 and a substantial amount of new material was written for the choir. in 2014 he was asked to write two pieces for the Commonwealth Service of Remembrance for WWI, broadcast live around the world.

Conductor

As a celebrated choir trainer and conductor, George has a catalogue of recordings, television, and radio broadcasts to his name. He has travelled to America and across Europe, directing choirs and orchestras and presenting workshops on choral singing. He is an award-winning conductor, and his work training young voices has earned him an international reputation for inspiring leadership and recruiting and retaining choristers. His recording of Poulenc’s Litanies à la Vierge noire earned 5-star reviews and was awarded a MusicWeb International Record of the Year and has enjoyed airtime on BBC Radio 3 with his ‘ground-breaking’ recording of Tudor Music from Romsey Abbey. In 2008 he became one of the youngest directors to ever conduct a Live Radio 3 broadcast, at the age of 21. He has worked with Sir Thomas Allen, Graeme Danby, Claire Rutter, Joelle Harvey and James Newby. He has enjoyed many years collaborating with organist Colin Walsh and is a member of the Music Department team at Salisbury Cathedral, directing the chamber choir.

Producer

As an emerging producer, George has worked with Convivium Records and the BBC on numerous recordings and broadcasts. Recent projects have included producing for Rupert Gough and the Choir of Royal Holloway, singer Jamie W. Hall and Paul Plummer, The London Mozart Players and Southern Sinfornia, soprano Sarah Fox and tenor Robert Murray, the Ivory Duo Piano Ensemble and Jeremy Dibble and the choir of Durham University amongst others. He brings the ears of a composer and the diplomacy of a conductor to bear on producing sessions which are focussed, without unnecessary stress and that promote excellence above all else. He has worked alongside Adaq Khan, Ronan Phelan, Stephen Shipley.
