Not sure about formats? Here’s how to make the best choice for your system

Studio Master – 24bit/96kHz
Studio Master format uses a sampling rate and bit depth 3x higher than CD, and 15x higher than MP3 for encoding mastered audio. Listening to 24bit, 96K is the closest you can get to experience the subtleties, dynamic range and purity of sound that you hear in live concert recording. You’ll feel like you’re sitting the right in the front row.

Standard quality MP3 – 320kbps
We encode our MP3s directly from high resolution masters at 320kbps – the top end of MP3 quality. When masters are compressed into MP3, a lot of the detail that engineers work hard to capture is lost, resulting in softer bass vocals, thin top range soprano and flattening of timbral instruments particularly organ and chamber music. The benefit is small file size and wide support on portable devices – recommended only when file size is a priority.
- Quality Balance of quality and portability
- Format MP3 – standard format for portable devices
- File size Tracks between 5 – 10 MBs, Albums 150MB+
- Track metadata Embedded
Sample quality MP3 – 128kbps
Preview tracks are encoded into MP3 at bitrates between at 128-160kbps, to enable quick and easy streaming on all devices. Popular streaming sites (e.g. Spotify, Pandora and iTunes) typically use equivalent 160kbps bitrate, and sometimes the higher rate of 320kbps for Premium subscriptions.
- Quality: Low
- Formats: Web player only – not available to buy
