David Fletcher

Music was in various ways a large part of the life of David Fletcher (1931—2024), starting as a young boy in the church choir, and progressing to singing with, for example, the London Bach Society and encompassing such activities as playing trumpet in a New Orleans jazz band. He trained and worked as a picture restorer, before graduating from Newport Art School and then Chelsea Art College. Returning to his first love David studied at the Guildhall School of Music, in aural training and composition, subsequently writing instrumental works, songs and choral pieces, as well as scores for numerous musical productions for the children he taught.
