John Caldwell

John Caldwell (b.1938) is an English composer, musicologist and academic, educated at the Matthay School of Music and Keble College, Oxford, who taught at Bristol and then Oxford, specializing in medieval and Renaissance music, keyboard music and liturgy; his compositional output includes the opera-oratorio Good Friday, The Word, and various choral, instrumental and vocal works, while his scholarship has made substantial contributions to editing, theory and early English repertoire.
