It is rare to see American choral music recorded by an English choir. Dan Locklair is a prominent composer who has written numerous works for nearly every medium: orchestral, chamber, instrumental, dramatic, sacred and secular choral, piano, and organ. This program contains a selection of his sacred choral pieces on texts from Christmas to Easter. Many are recorded for the first time, including the three Latin motets on familiar Christmas texts, a mass for double choir, and anthems accompanied by organ and brass. Most are under 5 minutes and would prove very useful for church choirs. They are beautifully written – deeply expressive of the texts – and the choir gives superlative performances.
